- Step 2: Equip the rod and bait, aim at open water, hold the attack button to cast, and wait until the bite indicator or fish movement shows a catch.
- Step 3: Use the block or the control shown for hook/reel, keep enough stamina to bring the fish to shore, then stop when inventory, food, or shoreline safety reaches the limit you set.
Buy the Fishing Rod and Fishing Bait from Haldor before travelling to the shore. Equip both, cast into open water, and wait for the bite before reeling. Hold the reel action only while stamina remains available; walk toward the shore to shorten the pull, then pick up the fish when it reaches land. Fish can be caught from ocean, river, and lake shorelines, so a portal beside a safe workbench makes the first session easy to recover.
The rod and bait answer only the first part of the fishing problem. Leave inventory space for the catch and enough food and stamina for the return. A fish on the line is not worth a corpse run from an exposed beach.
