Rank meals by the resource they protect
- Step 1: Create a short list of meals that are craftable at your current progression point and label each one by health, stamina, or Eitr role.
- Step 2: For each activity, select three meals from that list, check their ingredients at the Cauldron or Fermenter, and remove any option whose ingredients are reserved for another gate.
- Step 3: Cook one regular rotation and one boss or expedition rotation, then use each on its intended route before changing the ranking.

Food rankings should explain which failure a meal prevents. Health covers mistakes, stamina keeps movement possible, and Eitr supports magic; a meal belongs higher or lower depending on the route rather than its label alone.
- Separate regular travel, building, boss, and expedition rotations instead of forcing one universal list.
- Remove a meal from a tier when its ingredients are reserved for a later gate or cannot be renewed in the current world.
- Compare foods at the same progression point so late-game access does not distort an early-game decision.
Food ranking by biome
| Biome | Order recorded in the material | How to apply it |
|---|---|---|
| Meadows | > > > > > | Use the first recipe you can replace reliably; reserve the top meal for the activity that needs it. |
| Black Forest | > > > > > > | Move down the list when a recipe is unavailable or its ingredients are reserved for a boss gate. |
| Swamp | / > > > > > > / > | Pair the food choice with poison resistance and the stamina needed to leave the swamp or crypt. |
| Mountain | / > > > > > > > | Take the highest repeatable option and keep a cheaper return-trip meal in storage. |
| Plains | > > > > > > > | Check whether the ingredients can be farmed before a long expedition. |
| Mistlands | > > > > > > > | Choose by health, stamina, or Eitr role; this is not a universal DPS ranking. |
| Ashlands | > > > > > > | Test expensive recipes on the planned route before converting the full reserve. |
If the winner changes by situation
- Move a meal down the list when its ingredients are not renewable for your run.
- Add a health buffer when a stamina-only loadout causes corpse runs.
- Check the current item values after an update.
