Wolf Skewer Valheim: Recipe, Ingredients & Use

FAQ

What is Wolf Skewer used for?
Use it as part of a Mountain-stage food loadout or another route where its health and stamina balance is useful. It is a meal choice, not a replacement for the resistance, weapon, and recovery plan the route requires.
Should I make Wolf Skewer for every trip?
Make it when you can replace its ingredients and its health-stamina balance covers the activity. For routine building or low-risk travel, a cheaper renewable meal may be more practical.
Where does Wolf Skewer fit in progression?
It belongs to the Mountain food decision. Check that your cooking station, wolf-meat supply, and plant ingredients are available before planning it as a regular meal.

Wolf Skewer recipe and ingredients

Wolf Skewer is a cooked food for the Mountain stage. Open the cooking menu and confirm the current recipe before spending ingredients; the game version and installed content should be the source of truth for the final station and quantity shown in your world.

Wolf Skewer costs 1 Wolf Meat, 2 Mushrooms, and 1 Onion for one serving. The recipe and food values can change after a balance update or when a food-data Mod is active, so check the cooking menu before making a large batch.

In Valheim 1.0.7, one Wolf Skewer provides 65 Health, 21 Stamina, 3 Healing, and 1,500 seconds of duration. It stacks to 20 and weighs 0.5. Check the cooking menu if a later patch, world modifier, or food-data Mod changes these values.

Use this checklist before starting:

  • Have a level 3 Cauldron available and usable.
  • Bring 1 Wolf Meat, 2 Mushrooms, and 1 Onion for each serving.
  • Leave enough food for the return trip instead of cooking the entire stockpile before the first test.

Before you trust the recipe for a 1.0 route, record the result shown by the game:

Check in the cooking menuWhy it changes the decision
Station and upgrade levelA recipe may be visible only after the required station upgrade.
Ingredient quantity and outputA changed quantity alters the cost of every planned serving.
Max health and max staminaThese determine whether the meal covers the route’s main failure point.
Healing and durationThese decide how often you must stop, eat, or carry a replacement.

Use the current menu for a Modded profile or later patch. If your menu disagrees, follow the values shown there and do not combine an older guide’s numbers with a 1.0 loadout.

Older Mistlands guides show a different stamina value, which is why their numbers should not be mixed with the 1.0.7 values above.

How to decide whether to cook it

  1. Check the next activity: Mountain exploration, a boss preparation, mining, sailing, or routine building.
  2. Compare the meal’s health, stamina, duration, ingredient cost, and your ability to replace it with the other meals already unlocked.
  3. Cook a small batch, eat it before the route, and keep a replacement portion near the departure portal or staging base.
  4. After the trip, change one food slot at a time so you can tell whether Wolf Skewer improved the route or only consumed scarce ingredients.

For a Mountain or Plains transition, compare the meal against the route rather than against a universal tier ranking. A short mining trip may reward a stamina-heavy choice, while a boss approach may need a larger health buffer and a reliable healing plan. A long sailing or corpse-recovery route also needs food that can be replaced at the staging base; a meal that is technically stronger but depends on a rare ingredient can make the second trip worse.

Use this small-batch test:

  1. Cook only enough servings for one route and one recovery attempt.
  2. Put a replacement portion in the departure chest or forward portal base.
  3. Write down when the first serving expires, which stat ran short, and whether the return route remained safe.
  4. Replace one food slot on the next attempt, then compare the result with the same route.

After a patch, compare the current menu values with the route and the cost of replacing the ingredients.

The Valheim food tier list compares Wolf Skewer with other Mountain and Plains meals. Use that list for meal selection and this recipe for its ingredients and current values.

Common mistakes

  • Treating the tier list as the recipe: a ranking does not replace the cooking menu’s current ingredient and station check.
  • Using it without the rest of the loadout: food cannot replace the route’s resistance, weapon, portal, or corpse-recovery plan. See the progression guide before entering a new biome.
  • Taking the whole supply on the first trip: test the route with a small batch and leave a fallback meal at the boats and sailing guide staging point when the expedition involves a crossing.

What success looks like

You have a repeatable meal loop when the recipe is available at your current station, the ingredients can be gathered again, the food lasts for the intended activity, and a death or delayed return does not empty the next meal stock. If any one of those checks fails, use a cheaper available meal until the route becomes stable.

If the recipe is missing, first check the cauldron upgrade and the current world progression. If the recipe appears but the numbers differ, stop using the page’s old values and keep the in-game values with the save’s version note. If ingredients are the bottleneck, switch one slot to a renewable option from the Valheim food tier list and retest the same route. If the route itself is the bottleneck, use the progression guide and boats guide before changing the meal again.
