Compare the set against the route
- Step 1: Open the Forge and inspect the armor pieces available at your current progression point; compare protection, movement, stamina, special effects, material cost, and upgrade cost.
- Step 2: Craft or upgrade the piece that addresses your usual failure first, repair it, and walk a short route while carrying the food and weapon loadout you actually use.
- Step 3: Keep the old armor in storage until the new set survives the next biome or boss route, then switch the remaining pieces only when the full cost is justified.

Armor is a trade between taking less damage and reaching the next action with enough movement and stamina. The best set for a boss arena may be a poor set for a long exploration route.
- Start with the failure you are trying to prevent: damage, slow movement, stamina loss, or a missing set effect.
- Use the armor interface to compare pieces that are actually craftable at the current progression point.
- Keep the old set until the new one has survived the short route that normally causes the problem.
Armor choice by route
| Route | Protection to value | Field check |
|---|---|---|
| Boss arena | Damage reduction, resistance, and enough movement for the attack pattern | Walk the approach and retreat before spending the final upgrade materials |
| Long exploration | Movement, stamina, and repair access alongside protection | Reach the next landmark with stamina left for the return |
| Building or farming | Replaceable materials and low logistical cost | Keep the specialist combat set ready in the departure chest |
If the winner changes by situation
- Use a lighter or heavier piece if movement or stamina is the real bottleneck.
- Delay a full-set upgrade until the next gate is confirmed.
- Keep the old set until the new route has been tested.
