Use the first Plains trip to map danger and retreat
- Step 1: At the safe edge of the Plains, place a portal, storage chest, repair access, and a visible marker before entering with valuable cargo.
- Step 2: Eat the planned health and stamina food, equip the tested weapon and armor, enter on foot, and mark the safe edge, enemy camp, resource site, and retreat route as you move.
- Step 3: Return with the first small haul, unload it, and only then repeat the route with farming tools or rare materials; keep stamina for the retreat whenever a Deathsquito or patrol appears.
- Step 4: Keep the recovery route described in the preparation step open until the unlock is confirmed.

The Plains is the stage for Fuling villages, Deathsquitos, Lox, Barley, and Flax. Fire resistance helps against the biome’s fire threats, while a portal and a raised or dug retreat route protect the first scouting trip. Do not enter with a full inventory: first mark a safe edge, locate a village or Lox route, and return before transporting Barley, Flax, or black metal.
The first Plains trip is about information and a safe return, not a full inventory. Open terrain, fast flying threats, camps, and patrols make a visible retreat route more valuable than carrying every tool on the first crossing.
- Carry only the equipment needed to identify terrain and threats on the first pass.
- Leave stamina for the retreat whenever a fast enemy, patrol, or flying threat appears.
- Repeat the route with valuable tools only after the first return proves that the portal, storage, and landing points are usable.
If the attempt fails
- Return to the outpost when stamina is low instead of extending the fight.
- Move the portal or storage closer to the safe edge.
- Change one combat or food choice at a time so the cause of a death is visible.
