Test crossplay with real platform paths
- Step 1: In the dedicated-server settings, enable Crossplay, save the setting, and restart the server; include PS5, PC, and Xbox players in the same clean test.
- Step 2: Open the server Console after registration and copy the six-character Join Code exactly as displayed.
- Step 3: Steam players use Join Code or Join IP, while Xbox and Game Pass players open Join Game, choose Join Code, enter the code and password, and test reconnecting.

Crossplay is complete only when the intended platforms can join and reconnect. A server can register correctly while one platform still needs a different Join Game or Join Code path.
Run the first test with a fresh vanilla server, the same game version on every device, and the host’s exact password copied without extra spaces. Let one Steam player and one Xbox or Game Pass player join, leave, and reconnect. Add mods only after this baseline works, because a client-only dependency can make a healthy crossplay server appear broken.
- Enable Crossplay, restart the server, and copy the displayed Join Code exactly.
- Run one test from each target platform instead of testing only from Steam.
- After the first join, leave and reconnect so the group knows the path is repeatable.
Confirm the shared result
All players run the same Valheim version and can join through the intended route; BepInEx and client-required mods are excluded from the crossplay test.
If the setting or join test fails
- Wait for registration and check the console when no code appears.
- Recheck case-sensitive code, password, and version.
- Use a vanilla crossplay server or a separate Steam-only modded server.
